Free tour May 28, 2011 - Visit the Alona area during the nesting season

The Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni) is one of the species of birds that considered ‘globally threatened' by IUCN. This is the 15 year of putting up next boxes in the Alona area and about 90 of them are already placed. The kestrels nest in 20 to 30 boxes each year. The children of the 5th grade are the leaders of this project; they learn about Lesser Kestrel habitat, learn how to watch it, build the nesting boxes and help to place them in the houses in the area. They are also trained as guides to guide people from all over the country who visit the area during the nesting season. This year the Lesser Kestrel “open day” will take place at May 28, 2011
