Her Story

July 2009
Tikva is doing fine. Lilach, Tikva's  caretaker, still cuts the meat into small pieces for Tikva. Tikva shares a space with parrots and quails and all these very different types of birds get together very well

Tikva, The female falcon, was injured by a hunter's trap in the field. Both her feet were cut off by the trap. At the shelter Tikva's wounds healed and she is now moving around on her stumps. Because Tikva lost her feet, she has no claws to cut meat with, so we cut her food into small pieces she can manage. This is the only way she can eat. Tikva lives together in one space with parrots and quails. Because she has no claws there's no danger she will harm them.
