Both Mitzi and her sister Kitzi are now pregnant. Gestation last 78–84 days and we approximately know the days of Mating so we expect the Caracal females to deliver sometime in Mid April. We hope everything will be OK with the pregnancy.

Couple of weeks ago Lilach drove Kitzi, who lives with her sister caracal Mitzi at the Dandan & Lilach Wildlife Center, to spend time at the Arava Hai-Bar where she can meet male caracals and possibly mate with them.
Some of Dandan & Lilach's effort in rehabilitating caracal populations here in the area, is to introduce more Caracal to the wild. This is why Lilach drove Kitzi, for the 2nd winter in a row, to live around male caracals at the Arava Hai Bar.

Kitzi's Story
Kitzi and her sister Mitzi were both born in 2007 at the Garden of Zoological Research of Tel-Aviv University. We took Mitzi and Kitzi as part of our project helping Caracal populations recover. A while after they got here, we managed to get a male Caracal to join the two sisters, in hope that together they'll start a Caracal family, so that when the young Caracals are grown enough to fend for themselves, we will release these beautiful cats into the wild here in Israel.
