Dandan & Lilach Wildlife Center

Location

Northern Negev desert, Israel

Description

Dandan & Lilach Wildlife Center is run by Dan Bolotin and Lilach Levy who live here with their 3 children. The center rehabilitates sick and injured wildlife, cares for wildlife rejected from zoos, and accepts wildlife the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority could not accommodate elsewhere. Some of the wildlife at the center are treated until well enough to be released into the wild, yet some will remain in captivity for life as their condition does now allow for their survival in the wild. Dandan & Lilach Wildlife Center cares for buzzards, kestrels and eagles injured by hunters, falcons and barn-owls fallen out of nests, foxes, jungle cats, jackals, porcupines, wolves, raccoons, lemurs, fennec foxes, ferrets, coatimundis, and more. Wildlife at the Dandan & Lilach Wildlife Center live in conditions as similar as possible to their natural settings in the wild: their spacious holding facilities are built with wildlife-friendly materials, include "toys" for stimulation and have local vegetation in them. The Center is authorized as a wildlife shelter by the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority. It is a private operation and does not receive outside aid. All expenses are payed for by Dan and Lilach's private funds. The Center is not open for public visitation.
